City Brew Tours Montreal is a Perfect Fit

City Brew Tours Montreal

Montreal is a top-five beer destination in North America! It’s the second-largest city in Canada and the tenth-largest city in North America. Its appetite for beer rivals that of Seattle, Boston, and Denver. With over 28 breweries scattered across the city, the challenge of beer exploration can be daunting. Enter City Brew Tours Montreal is a perfect fit for this unique beer culture.

We had the pleasure of joining one of their afternoon tours guided by Violet, who we found both knowledgeable and entertaining! Our five avid beer lovers promptly met at our pick-up point outside the main bus terminal at 1 pm. Violet, our guide and driver, whisked us seamlessly across Montreal. We visited three breweries, all included on my Montreal brewery must-visit list. Our visits were unrushed and included ample beer tastings! We had a marvelous time on this fantastic tour.

Messorem Bracitorium Inc. is an industrial microbrewery with a tasting room specializing in brewing and designing IPA, sour, and aged beers in barrels.

Messorem, which is Latin for (Grim) “Reaper,” and indeed “Noli Timre Messorem” roughly translates to “Don’t Fear the Reaper.” Their playful use of this theme is evident in their beer names, including Death in a Glass and Floating in the Dead Sea. But fear not; the beer is outrageously delicious! Messorem was my favorite stop on our tour. Violet walked us through the brewery, eventually leading us to the Biergarten for our tastings. The food also looked great, and I would call for a return visit when time permits.

The Brewpub is known for its relaxed and modern atmosphere, featuring Belgian-styled and West Coast-inspired brews. It’s an ideal setting for happy hour or an evening get-together with friends.

Benelux Brewpub and the outside terrace is located in the Verdun area of Montreal. A renovated bank has now transformed into a fantastic brew pub! You will see signs of its banking days with its repurposed vault, and they even have a skeleton or two in the basement! You’ll have to ask Violet about that one.

We enjoyed our beer tastings, accompanied by a charcuterie board filled with meat, cheese, and fruit. With a bit of extra time, we had an opportunity to indulge in an extra pint, and I must say the dark lager was delicious.

4 Origins Microbrasserie

4 Origins is an innovative artisanal brewery that creates playful twists to classic beer styles. Their beers are designed to be dynamic and exciting to those exploring the Montreal beer scene. Imagine a group of accomplished home brewers going into business for themselves, aching for a career change. This gives you a pretty good understanding of the foundation for this 2018 startup. They are developing an eclectic mix of varied styles yet remaining true to classic roots.

Violet led us through the tastings, sharing a few interesting variations of traditional beer offerings. We found the beers complex but very easy to drink—certainly one of the better breweries on our Canadian Beer Adventure.

4 Origins

The scale of Montreal’s city limits and the abundance of craft breweries made using a beer tour a must for exploring this city’s excellent beer culture. We strongly recommend City Brew Tours Montreal with Violet as your guide. We had a marvelous time and look forward to future visits to this fantastic city.
